Candle Care & Safety

 

We want you to enjoy your Linky’s candles safely and get the very best from every burn. Please take a moment to read the following candle care and safety guidance before lighting your candle.

Before Lighting

• Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from draughts, pets and children.

• Keep your candle away from anything that could catch fire, including curtains, paper, decorations and other flammable materials.

• Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately 5mm. A trimmed wick helps create a cleaner, more controlled flame.

• Always check your candle before lighting. Do not use it if the container is cracked, damaged or otherwise compromised.

While Your Candle Is Burning

• Never leave a burning candle unattended.

• Keep the candle within sight and away from children and pets.

• Do not move a candle while it is lit or while the wax is hot.

• Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

• Keep the wick centred and extinguish the candle if the flame becomes excessively large or produces excessive smoke.

• Never allow the candle flame to come into contact with the sides of the container.

 

Extinguishing Your Candle

Always extinguish your candle carefully and never use water to put out a candle.

Allow the wax and container to cool completely before moving or relighting your candle.

Getting the Best Burn

For the first burn, allow the melted wax to reach close to the edges of the container. This helps establish an even melt pool and can help prevent tunnelling.

Try to avoid burning your candle for very short periods repeatedly, as this can cause the candle to burn unevenly.

Always trim the wick before every burn once the wax has fully cooled.

When to Stop Using Your Candle

Never burn a candle all the way to the bottom of the container.

Stop using your candle when approximately 10mm of wax remains, or sooner if the container becomes excessively hot.

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from children and pets. Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
